“Never go on trips with anyone you do not love.” ~ Ernest Hemingway.
This winter break was one of the best yet thanks to the trip to one of my all-time favorite places to visit. I have written blogs about this place before, but visiting it during the holidays time was a new experience. Another added this reason that made this trip even more memorable was the company of a special person.
I took them to the various places that I often frequent during my visits, such as the Mass General Store, Chocolate Lounge, and Farm Burger. I have captured some moments during the trip if you are looking for some ideas for your next winter vacations.
One of the most unique landmarks here is the double-decker coffee shop. The patio was decorated with beautiful ornaments, matching the color of the bus. The menu is similar to other coffee shops, but they also have gigantic sundaes that are well worth the money.
I was mesmerized by the colors of the ornaments, 10+ for decorations
One of my favorite places to eat in Asheville, and I am not a big fan of burgers, but the burgers here are to die for. The ingredients are high quality and all local, so you eat without feeling guilts and just indulge (I indulged way too much). You order your food at the counter, then they will give you a number, and you can sit anywhere you want.
Since we were planning to get desserts after, we decided to split a burger with an added fried egg. The fries were crunchy on the outside, but still soft on the inside. It was just enough to fill us up, but still very satisfying and hearty.
One more item that I recommend here is the salted caramel milkshake. It is so creamy and flavorful. It is a pretty decent size shake so you can share it with someone or you can just have it all for yourself if you have a sweet tooth like me. I really wanted to get one this past trip but their milkshake machines were out of order -.-.
This past visit here was the first time that we did not have to wait in line to enter the place. We decided to have a hot chocolate and ice cream, and I think our favorite was definitely the hot chocolate. The ice cream had a nice flavor, but it had too much-added toppings, so it wasn’t very satisfying.
The rest of the afternoon was all about walking through art shops and boutiques for unique finds. This place, in particular, was filled with artworks, crafts, and handmade earrings made by local artists, so most of the pieces were quite unique. Every corner was filled with arts and little surprises. Visiting places like these always inspire to be more creative, whether it be through blogging or photography.
Asheville always gives me a sense of romance and love every time I visited. It is a place that was layback and peaceful, allowing for having small conversations with loved ones. But it also filled with many interesting things to see, and every time visiting is like a whole new experience. This beautiful city is romantic and sensual, a perfect escape for couples who are looking for serenity to rekindle their friendships.
If you are to travel on your own, I can guarantee that you will not feel lonely when visiting this city. Speaking from my own experience, I have taken an overnight trip here alone, I was able to focus all of my attention on myself and my curiosity. I did not find myself super lonely (aside from wanting to share some brief excitements with). I was learning to fall in love with being on my own. It was a perfect time to reflect on my past and make plans for my future. It was a perfect time to meditate and heal from all the emotional drainages that I was experiencing. Whether you are there with companies or on your own, Asheville will always make you feel welcomed.
After exploring downtown Asheville, I took my companion on a surprise visit to America’s biggest home. Stay tuned to the next blog for pictures behind this wonderful present.
